What is Dental Implants?
Dental implants are a long-term tooth replacement option used to restore missing or severely damaged teeth. An implant is a small titanium post placed into the jawbone to support a replacement tooth or restoration, helping restore function and appearance. At Primary Dental, dental implants are provided following a comprehensive clinical assessment to confirm suitability based on oral health, bone levels, medical history, and individual treatment goals. Suitability may also be influenced by lifestyle factors such as smoking.

What to expect
1. Consultation and suitability assessment
A dental professional will assess your teeth, gums, bite and medical history. X-rays and/or 3D imaging may be recommended to evaluate bone support and plan treatment safely.
2. Treatment planning and preparation
A personalised implant plan is developed. Depending on your needs, this may include tooth removal, gum treatment, or other preparation to support long-term stability.
3. Implant placement and healing
The implant is placed into the jawbone under local anaesthetic. Healing time allows the implant to integrate with the bone before the final restoration is fitted.
4. Restoration placement and ongoing maintenance
A custom restoration (such as a crown) is attached to the implant. Regular reviews and professional cleaning help support gum health and long-term outcomes.

I’ve been to many dental centres in Sydney and I must say this is one of the best dental service I’ve experienced. The location is so convenient, only 2 min walk from Town Hall. Staffs are supper friendly and gentle. They also offer very affordable price and you can pay with afferpay or zippay, which is amazing! Will definitely be back!

I do enjoy the friendly and helpful staff, it’s makes all the difference. I will be the first to admit the dentist is my least favourite place to go however after my first visit for a general check up, I felt very confident and pleased with my appointment from Dr Brett Moore. He is compassionate and caring :)

FAQs
What are dental implants?
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots placed into the jawbone to support replacement teeth. They are used to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth, or support larger restorations depending on individual needs.
Who may be suitable for dental implants?
Suitability depends on gum health, bone levels, medical history and oral hygiene. Some lifestyle factors (including smoking) may affect healing and long-term implant stability. A clinical assessment is required before implants are recommended.
Can smoking affect implant results?
Yes. Smoking (and vaping) can affect healing and may increase the risk of complications, including infection and delayed healing. Your dentist will discuss risk factors and provide guidance to support safer outcomes.
How long does the dental implant process take?
Timeframes vary depending on healing and complexity. Some cases require several months from implant placement to the final restoration. Your dentist will provide a personalised timeline after assessment.
Do dental implants feel like natural teeth?
Dental implants are designed to function like natural teeth. Many patients find them stable and comfortable once healed, however outcomes may vary between individuals.
How long do dental implants last?
Dental implants are designed to be long-term; however longevity depends on oral hygiene, gum health, ongoing maintenance, general health, and lifestyle habits. Regular dental visits are important to support long-term implant success.
