Local anaesthetic is applied to numb the area before treatment begins. The infected or inflamed pulp is carefully removed, the root canal system is cleaned, shaped, and disinfected, and the canals are sealed to prevent re-infection.
Following root canal treatment, the tooth will require restoration to protect its structure and restore function. A crown is often recommended for molar and premolar teeth that have undergone root canal treatment, as these teeth can become more susceptible to fracture over time without adequate protection.
Follow-up appointments allow your dental team to monitor healing and assess the outcome of treatment. Ongoing dental reviews and good oral hygiene are important to the long-term health of the treated tooth.
